Every time Cathy at Sane, Crazy, Crumby Quilting posts a vintage spin block, I want to make them too. Cathy must have a special technique because she posts FOUR of them at a time, and as you can see, I only managed to complete one. The wedges come together quickly and are a lot of fun. And if I weren't so old fashioned, I would leave the gaping hole in the center. Instead I follow the directions in Kathy Doughty's book Adding Layers and applique the circle in the middle.

P.S. We got globs of rain but no accumulating snow.

Love the yellow and black and I have wanted to make these after a) buying Kathy's book and b) seeing the blocks which Wanda made. Be good to see your block selection!

yum the fabrics you picked are terrific. We only got a little snow, quickly washed away by rain.LeeAnna

It was fun to see some flakes though! I hope the early flakes aren't a sign of things to come. I'm not interested in blizzards. We haven't had snow before Christmas since we moved here. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving. I always enjoy reading your blog. Love your block and I am glad the sewing room mice were able to pass the all important bylaw prohibiting outside mice from their territory.

Oh, I love your block fabrics. That b/w fabric is a lot of fun and is perfect for this block! No special technique here. I just cut enough for four and then sew them together. That's about my limit before I get bored with sewing them and move on to something else. I hate appliqueing those circles so am doing them as I go so I don't have a bunch to do all at one time at the end like she does in the book. I'm glad you're making one. I'm making mine larger than the one in the book.
