Red rabbits

Here are the red rabbits for the month of July. Are they red because that's the color of the month over at the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge? No, these are red because I found out that it's Mr. Rabbit who is eating my tomatoes right off the vine just as they ripen to perfection.

And here is Nelson trying desperately to retain his kitten charm. Yesterday he found out that he will be having surgery on Monday, and then will enter the adoption competition at the local shelter. He thought he only had to beat out his sisters, but has since found out that its a countywide competition... hence the pathetic clinging to artifacts of his lost youth.

Cute rabbits! Much cuter than the pathetic loser rabbits who live our backyard and regularly bite through the stems of the plants without bothering to eat them. Good luck to Nelson!

What sweet little rabbits. Shame on them for nibbling your tomatoes.

Love the cowbunny. And the birdbunny. Oh, that leaves one out. Love him, too.
Are you tempted to adopt them yourself?

Great bunnies!

Keep us posted on the bunny vs tomato battle. Will they use their wits like the bear? If so, you lose. Poor Nelson. Hope he wins a perfect new home. Give him some extra hugs from all of us.

Super red rabbits but poor old Nelson, he's not going to be a happy choppy in a couple of days time!

Fun cloth bunnies, bad real bunnies for eating your tomatoes.

Cloth bunnies are much better than those rascally real ones that eat the gardens.

What CUTE bunnies! Nelson is a hottie. He'll be adopted first.

It's hard to imagine that Nelson won't get a new home right away. There does tend to be a lot of competition in the kitten arena however. Maybe your rabbits have turned red from embarrassment due to the unseemly behavior of their wild cousin?

Nelson should be adopted quickly; I hear that at my shelter the gingers go first. I had 3 little white babies for four days and another shelter saw their picture and wanted them even though they were only three weeks old and would need to be in foster for a few more weeks. So they were transported 200 miles away. They had been strays and should have been with mama longer because they would eat the canned food by climbing into the dish and pushing with their feet, jockeying for position and shoving their faces into the food, making a terrible mess. I bathed them twice in the four days I had them and washed their faces more than that! Oh, yes, I love the red bunnies, too.

I tried a bunny from your tutorial for this month's Block Lotto theme of "household pets". As I posted at Block Lotto...depends upon your definition of "household". They are pretty easy to make but only if you can read that the HST size given is the "finished size"! I directed everyone to your tutorial in case anyone wants to make their own bunny. Now I'll probably move on to making more and some cabbages one of these days for a quilt to go with the book Peter Cottontail. Also looking for upright bunny pattern to go with one of my most favorite books...The Velveteen Rabbit. I'm thinking lots of cotton bunnies and only one velveteen one on a quilt. I said THINKING. Sounds like you have the Elmer Fudd Wascally Wabbits version of rabbits in your garden.

I think Nelson has some relatives that live here.

Oh, and cute red bunnies!
