Monkey 3.0 and Bunnies

Here's the latest version of the monkey block. He has a bit of a smile, a curled tail and polka dot eyes. Right now he uses four different fabrics. I made him using a 3/4 inch grid so his finished size is 9 by 12 inches. However, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to make him on a one inch grid with a finished size of 12 by 16 inches.

In case you would like to review the evolution of the monkey block, you can tell he's quite a bit happier than the first version, but not as overly medicated as the second version. I'll be making a tutorial for the block once I figure out the simplest way to make it and explain it.

Meanwhile, the carrots and bunnies are all combined into a single quilt top. Now I just have to figure out the border. For the kitten quilt, I used kitten ears for the border. For the plaid bunnies, I used plaid ears and tails for the border. For this quilt, I think I will be using bunny tails. . .

Except that I just noticed that one of the bunnies is limping. The green bunny in the seventh row, third from the right has a very badly mangled back leg that needs immediate surgery.

  1. Love the newest monkey and the bunny quilt. Why is it the blocks needing surgery are always in the middle of the quilt top?

  2. Maybe that's why Molly kept knocking down the quilt blocks - so you would see the mangled bunny. She's probably sitting somewhere shaking her head right now...

  3. I love Monkey 3.0 - he's just right. And the bunny quilt is coming along nicely. And I wouldn't be surprised if Molly wasn't responsible for the limping bunny.....

  5. Isn't it amazing that those things can pass inspection? Several times? I ut finished a quilt where I put three corners upside down on one block. Quilted it even. Stood out like a sore thumb when i showed i to a friend! LOL
