Warning! Alligator!

I guess with all the discussions about draining the swamp, I should have expected an alligator to show up in my sewing room. Unfortunately, this means I can's show you all of my progress on the fish and seahorse quilts. They are nowhere to be found.

Of course, the owls are still here because everyone knows that alligators are afraid of owls. All the knock knock jokes make an alligator gnash its teeth, rendering them harmless. If you would like to enjoy less threatening patchwork, I suggest a trip to the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge to see how much others are accomplishing in this first week of December.

And here is the fused alligator I made back in 2011. He has been around long enough to enjoy jokes and has been known to tell a few himself.

And now that I'm on the spool bandwagon, I realized that four of the small spools can be combined to make a block that is the same size as a Dear Jane block. This sent me off to the Alternative Jane Stickle compendium...blocks she made that didn't make it into her famous quilt...and there was the four spool block. Except according to the compendium, this is block W55 or Tipsy Whiskey Barrels. Those of you who have made a Dear Jane quilt have undoubtedly wondered how much Jane drank. This block confirms many of the suspicions that I have.

Alligators in the sewing room? Oh, NO!!! Let's hope they don't eat up those adorable spools.

Love the alligators but what do Molly and Buddy think about these two?? Owls are looking bright and cheerful, I do hope you're going to have enough to make a quilt top, and I must have missed that you were working on spools, a super pattern.

Alligators! I never would have thought of alligators being brave enough to enter a cat's sewing room. Wow!
(I sent someone to your tutorials page the other day when she asked where the piglet pattern came from. She came back and said 'now there's a roomful of squirrels' and my first thought was 'hmmm... squirrels... squirrels for RSC2017...? hmmm...') (But alligators... hmmm...)

Ge-go ge-gos! (That’s how my son used to say alligators). They are chillingly delightful! But I’ll sit back and cheer for the fish and seahorses, thank you very much. As for Dear Jane, no doubt that a touch of the bubbly helped her with all those blocks. I certainly prefer your spools and other menagerie members! Great post!

Yikes a alligator, what a beauty he is! Not sure I would want a whole quilt of them, but definitely would look good in the corner of the fish quilt?

What a fun post, Sally! I love all your critters, but I am definitely in danger of jumping on the spool bandwagon myself. Loved seeing yours!

How could that gator possibly have gotten past Buddy? Are you sure he and Molly are still around? Do you see any suspicious scraps of flying fur? Ask the owls. They will have the answers.
