Bunnies and a road trip

Who doesn't love a taupe bunny? And the pattern is soft and playful enough for the Stonefields quilt, so I decided to use it as the background for my next block. I tend towards having too much contrast, so I looked for a companion fabric that played very well with the bunnies.

Oops. I went too far. Except I do like the Alice in Wonderland feel. I also have to add a circle in the middle and all around the perimeter.

And here's another colorway of the circus animals on parade. It reminds me of a tummy ache.

Molly is trying to help me out by pulling down the flannel that serves as a photo backdrop.

Meanwhile, I took my first "Random adventure" in Portland. I first used this technique when I moved to Northern Virginia in the early 1990s. I used a random number generator to pick a page and grid square in a detailed street map. Then I would drive to that random area and check it out...getting lost and found several times along the way.

For this trip, I randomly picked the grid with Cedar Island Park. And its probably obvious that it would be cheating to use freeways. Especially when you can go over funky bridges. In any case, the access shown in my luddite map was now blocked off, so I had to use another approach...going through another park by foot. And that's when I found this sign. This made no sense...

until I found this.

And this was the view from the bridge.

The bunny fabric along with the clock fabric really does have an Alice in Wonderland feel. The colors look fantastic together. It looks like you had a fun little adventure. --Andrea

Clocks are truly perfect with those bunnies! And what a novel and wonderful approach to learning a new place.

Great clock block and love the bunnies! Those animals with tummy aches are growing on me! We use to have Sunday drives when I was younger - just use to drive until we found a road we had never been down and go exploring, see where we ended up, it was fun and freedom when you got your first car! But a great idea to explore a new to you area and get a good sense of the city you live in.

You are playing with such fabulous fabrics right now. Yes, bunnies and clocks work for me even if Alice disapproves.

I love your bunny fabric! And what a great idea using a random number generator to “generate” exploration! I have to figure out a way to apply that to my daily walks. I am thinking of a spinner thing that says Right or Left.... but I might never get back home....

Aha, down the rabbit hole. You have some pretty fun fabrics.

I really like the way you learn a new "town". Fabulous idea. Heck, it might even be a good idea for a place in which you've lived for a while.

Hi Molly, and where is Buddy these days?

What a fun adventure! (I'd be tempted to try something similar, but with my total lack of a sense of direction, I'd end up having to ask a polar bear for directions...)

Such cute bunny rabbit fabric and it certainly is perfect for that block. You came up with a great way to get to know the countryside around your new area.
