Ashen birds and More Orange

Today was also full of drama. Molly picked these ashen birds, the color of Portland sky, for her selection. She does not like closed windows.

I suggested that maybe the selection should be useful to quilters rather a way for her to vent.  Molly then told Buddy to pick nine fabrics to take with him for his forced evacuation. Buddy started collecting his mouse toys instead and bringing them to my lap.  Molly insisted that only Buddy was being evacuated so then he wouldn't leave my lap. This was not how I planned to spend my evening. Without the cat's "help", I decided to pick fabrics based on the ones in boxes I opened today. So voila...more orange.

Happily, one of the boxes included Molly's crunchy tunnel and Buddy's tiered roller balls. Given they are easily distracted, we are having a calmer evening.

As usual, if you would like to win a collection of fat quarters with these fabrics, leave a comment and Molly will pick a random winner in a week. I would suggest you leave a comment about your favorite toy.

Linus says: My favorite toy is the "paint for cats" app on the iPad. You can choose different color palettes, and then chase a squeaking mouse around the screen. Every time you touch the screen it leaves a splotch of paint. I keep trying to get under the iPad to find the mouse when it disappears but I'm never fast enough.

Very interesting mix today. My favorite toy is my Juki machine, but the furkids chose the catnip mousies.

Your fabric choices are definitely being influenced by raging wildfires! My only pet now is a senior Labrador retriever who loves his tennis ball still, even though he can't run much anymore.

Lovely collection. My favorite toy is my pair of electric scissors -- makes cutting go faster so sewing can be started sooner. Loving these updates on Molly & Buddy's move.

Me-new loves her bird on a string, while i love my rotary cutter.

My favorite toy is a laser pointer. It's in the shape of a mouse, and is a cat toy. The dog (I married a dog man. I get my cat fixes at my mom's and a friend's house.) goes after that red dot with a vengeance. They make the best toys for cats!

Sadie's favorite toy is a little velvet wabbit that Smitty chewed off another toy. Toys at the end of sticks with string are so yesterday's news. Some good news about the fire: https://fox12weather.wordpress.com/2017/09/05/tuesday-gorge-fire-update-much-better-conditions-ahead/

My favorite toy is my sewing machine and those fabrics would work wonderfully with some in my stash and a Kona Cotton pewter for a scrap quilt. Love seeing the parade of fabrics. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway. (shirparks@gmail.com)

I gotta admit I like a good crinkly tunnel, too, but I keep getting my head stuck...

Now what's all this about Buddy and evacuation?? Poor Buddy. OK Molly your choice of fabrics for Tuesday are HOT!! I see Africa there - lovely. Good to read that gradually your esteemed staff member is gradually uncovering some of the feline toys - enjoy!!

I don't know if they are toys but I love music boxes. I also love topsy-turvy dolls.

Wow, Those are gorgeous fabrics! You sure did Molly proud! my favorite toy is my Bernina - no surprise there. Tonight the cats' favorite toy was a huge old fly that buzzed into the house. It kept them entertained for a couple hours. When they finally had it cornered down in my studio and were toying with it in its final throes, DH stepped in with some tissue and gave it a burial at sea (flushed it....). Alfie and Darla were not amused.

I personally had a centipede in the bathroom the other morning, no cat to catch it, dog wasn't interested. I'm a fan of the sewing machine myself but have been in a bit of a slump lately. Was making a quilt for someone else, not my favorite. I am going to be making some Halloween pillowcases for my littles. Snuggle Molly, tell her Buddy makes her look good.

My favorite toys these days are my log cabin rulers designed by Jean Ann Wright. I watched her on Alex Anderson's "The Quilt Show" and bought one of the rulers on a whim. I loved it, and bought another version, and now all I want to do is make log cabins in many different sizes. All day long. I can use almost any scraps, so I am having major scrap envy/coveting of even the skinniest bit of Kaffe or batik scraps because I know how wonderful they would look in my curvy log cabins. As you may have surmised, it's quickly zooming past pastime and becoming an obsession. The only thing that pulled me back to reality was the call to make kennel quilts. Thank goodness I regained perspective.

My favorite toy is my Bernina sewing machine. My dog's favorite toy is a kid's toy ball, which we use to play soccer with her--she's pretty good!

My cats loved the laser pointer. Mine is my APQS long arm. So much fun! Thanks for the give away. You have an amazing fabric collection. Julia

Wow, this is the best collection yet. I love these choices. No pets here, so I'm going with my Bernina as my favorite toy, but my favorite activity is petting fabric.

My favorite toy is my small weaving loom. Yarn or strips of fabric go from one side to the other, up and down, and in the end I get a tridimensional thing. Sort of.

This fabric mix just seems to speak autumn to me. The trees turning, the last flowers of summer, a bit of blue sky with the sunset or is that a sunrise? Those ashen birds, just would they be Halloween ravens? My favourite toy has got to be my sewing machine!

Thank you for sharing your stash with whomever are the lucky winners!

Another great selection. My favourite toy is a stuffed snake in all sorts of bright colours my parents gave me when I was a little girl. I still have it. Samantha's favorite toy is anything she can play with while staying in her box and not expending much energy. Dainty's favourite is anything with legs and/or wings that make it into the house.

My favorite toy is my new Bernina but sadly it is at my other house and I'll have to wait a couple more months before I can use it...if it starts up that is. I hear those new electronic machines can be a bit temperamental, kind of like cats, if no one plays with them for awhile.

If you're talking about when I was younger, my favorite toy was a Spirograph. Fascinated me to no end! Thanks so much for your generosity in hosting a giveaway. :)

That is a fascinating bundle of fabric. My favorite toy - aside from all of my sewing toys - is my set of golf clubs. I love golfing as much as I love sewing. Thanks!

My favorite toy is a sewing machine from IKEA. It's pretty basic but works. And I can spend hours playing.

Fabric is the best toy!!! :)

The best toy is the invisible dust bunny that only a 16 year old cat can see; usually at night and involves running down the hallway at top speed and skidding to a stop for a quick bath before resuming the chase in the opposite direction.

Wow. Orange and black. Just in time for Halloween. I do hope the comment about evacuating was not real, especially since you just recently moved in.
