Wildlife inside and out

Here are a collection of patterns I made this year that were not part of the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge.  While my sewing room has been full of wild life this year, my yard has been busy as well.

The other day a deer that has been visiting my yard showed up with her "litter" of three fawns. The mother is under the peach tree that was recently visited by a black bear. The bear pulled down a branch (marked by a purple arrow) to eat the peaches and in the process pretty much wiped out the nearby cucumber plant. I have also propped up the peach tree branch that had taken to laying on the ground after its harrowing experience.

In the foreground, another purple arrow points to the resident bunny. The fawn in the foreground was curious about the rabbit and went to investigate. The rabbit would only let the fawn get within about three feet, and it was a lot of fun watching the rabbit lead the fawn around the yard.

  2. You need what we have in our neighborhood....a coyote! For the first time ever we have no new fawns and my grounghog population is finally reducing.

  3. Oh my! What a wild place to live! We just have gators and snakes! Oh and racoons, armadillos, turtles and the occasional peacock in the woods!

  4. Gish I can't begin to imagine what it would be like to have a bear wandering about the yard!! The deer and fawns - yes, I would love them and the bunny.

  5. Great wildlife shot, how nice to have deer in your yard...but I guess they were trampling your vegie patch? I had no idea that bears would eat peaches, but who doesn't like fresh peaches! Pity about the branch though, hope it survives. Love the pieced animals you have made, lovely to see them all together....would make a nice quilt!

  7. I prefer my wildlife inside flat on their backs like your cute critters. My yard pretty much looks yours only you could probably wipe out what looks like a garden behind that whirligig in your photo and know how my garden looks with all the outside wildlife around. I have resident groundhogs who dig big holes to try to trap me and get fatter and fatter feeding on my brassicas and rabbits who eat the leftover brassicas when the groundhogs aren't looking. We don't plant corn anymore because it is always devastated by the raccoon population when it is perfectly ripe and we have to put fake wolf urine around our deck to keep them off of it - without a/c we have just the screen door on the deck between us and our kitchen and I'm always afraid I'll awake at night with a raccoon next to me. The deer destroy our fruit trees and I have to zig zag to work on the dark early mornings in order to avoid making them into roadkill.
