I have resumed working on the spiderweb quilt, if only to finish it and make room on my sewing table. Lately I have been working on sections of it as a leader and ender project, although I suspect its a bit too big of a mess to qualify.
I have a bin of 1.25 inch strip bits and another bin of 1.5 inch strip bits. On the floor is a bin of hunks for the spiderweb tips.
And here are the finished sections waiting for ironing and a trim, then paper removal. To see what other scrappy messes (or in some cases, examples of supreme organization), visit Oh Scrap! sponsored by Quilting is more fun than housework.
I've also completed two more Dear Jane blocks. The one on the left is B7 or World Serie and the one on the right is D3 or Jason's Jacks. I am "following" along with Fabadashery as she makes her Dear Jane quilt. And by following, I mean a rather haphazard catch-up. These two blocks are from Fabadashery's first random draw.
I am also trying to get a bit more organized with this quilt because I have found myself making the same block twice. For right now I'm just going back and ironing on freezer paper labels.
My daughter gave me the 'kite' shaped ruler for Christmas, so I feel some sort of spiderweb coming on... I love the bright colors in yours!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... freezer paper labels... what a good idea... //goes to look for freezer paper roll
Love that yellow against the turquoise--I fold back my papers after the first seam and just sew to fabric and only use paper for measuring against and then there's not so much to tear off--on either side...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteIt is always so sad to realize that you have made the same block twice. Organization is really a big part of a quilt of this scale. Best of luck keeping up with the challenge.
ReplyDeleteI love the aqua and yellow together in the spider web quilt. This is a great pattern and hope it uses up all those strings and chunks you have so neatly organised...mine are shoved (and unironed) in a big box, I am quite jealous - I might need to get more organised now I have seen yours!
ReplyDeleteLuscious Spider Web coming together, love the way you have the turquoise coming up against the yellow last strip on the block. Now you are using one of my all time favourite fabrics from KF in your B7 block - makes me want to buy more!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure my sewing space would qualify as a scrappy mess right now! Much cleaning and organization are required! I really like your spider web quilt! Those coloful strings make a beautiful block!
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't remember you were working on a Spider Web. I like how you have used yellow consistently around the webs. I'm making one with my 1.5 strip scraps too. I've tried a couple of other methods of construction and have found the paper foundations to be the best for me.
ReplyDeleteI admire your Dear Jane. It appears to have sooooo many weird to make blocks for me. It would end up looking like Insane Jane.
The state of my sewing room is always a scrappy mess. It makes me happy to be surrounded by all that color and bits of fabric just waiting to become something! Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteWell I think Cynthia and I hit "publish" at the same moment because it said my comment could not go through as there were multiple simultaneous edits on the page. So here we go again... I found your piggy blocks, so cute! I have a thing for pigs from using Les Trois Petits Cochons play to teach French to my grade 7s. Might have to make this block! I see we have some similar fabrics: the white embossed leaves background fabric for the pig is one as are some of the Kaffe fabrics I see...love your spiderweb quilt! Those turquoise stars framed in yellow are so bright!
ReplyDeleteI love the turquoise fabric as the background for your spiderwebs!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your spider web quilt so far. It's going to look great!
ReplyDeleteSpider Web is one of the things on my "someday" list. Yours is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove that spider web with the blue and yellow.
