Monday night was the meeting for my quilt guild which includes a visit to the free table. My rule is to leave more fabric than I take. And for the most part I'm looking for weird bits that I can use to make these spools. And by weird bits, I mean fabric that I wouldn't typically buy--even a fat quarter.
Bonnie Hunter says that if you don't like a fabric, you haven't cut it up small enough. So yes, I do appreciate these fabrics much more in smaller bits.
And for some of these fabrics, I'm taking home very small bits. For example, the scrap of green grid background fabric in the right hand lower corner was only big enough to cut two 1.5 by 3.5 inch strips.
And here is a rhododendron blooming in my backyard. I moved into this house last summer, so this spring I am learning more about the colors of the landscaping.
You are also seeing a picture of a flower because BOTH the cat and the horse are in the dog house. Molly climbed a screen today. And last night as I was drinking, Buddy ran and jumped on me with the exuberance of a puppy, then took his horsey head and butted it up against the glass transferring the glass contents to my face and front. I am still waiting for their apologies.
Those spools are so cute! Are you limiting the number of spools you do with each fabric? The old Kitty Headbutt Trick - works every time on unsuspecting lap owners.
ReplyDeleteWhat works even better is a kitty afraid of "sharp/loud" sounds---she broke and shattered 2 wineglasses in one night--thunderstorms anyone ??? Love the spools
ReplyDeleteFlower is beautiful, can't wait for things to start coming out here in Mi. Love the spools
ReplyDeleteWonderful that you can pick up little bits of fabric, especially backgrounds to add interest to your blocks. Its funny how one persons trash is another's treasure, but I love some of these prints!
ReplyDeleteThat will be the day when you get apologies. Have you forgotten you are staff??
ReplyDeleteBuddy just wanted you to admire his new goat impression...
ReplyDeleteLove your spools! I too am using them to use up itty bits of fabric. A plate full of spools-to-be sits next to my machine, just waiting to leap in as a leader/ender.
I love rhododendrons!! Any colour, any size and whether they have a perfume or not, the one you have in yourd yard is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your spools! I keep thinking I should make some for a small table topper! Pets do not apologize, but doggie was just wanting to love on you. For discipline of my cat or dog I used a spray bottle dialed to stream, and when they misbehaved they would get a stream along with me making a SSSTTT! sound with my mouth. Soon they learned that whatever they were doing when I SSSSTTT! they quit! They ARE trainable! And just like kids appreciate knowing what is acceptable behavior. Because if they "do right" we are more likely to love on them.
