Here is a painting midway in its progression. I add a new layer to the painting based on instructions received in my painting class each week. This week the instruction was to add blended objects.
This week the instruction was to add "calligraphy marks" with an unfamiliar utensil...in this case lines from a squeeze bottle.
This week the instruction was to selectively cover/uncover using opacity.
This week the instruction was to develop an "expressive" layer using watered down house paints and a large paint brush (2 inch).

Here is my submission to Spoonflower's contest this week. If you would like to vote for my design (or any of the other wonderful designs), hop over to Spoonflower's contest page. My design is called crescent swirls by tommyandjimmy. This week's challenge was to use the two specified colors (green and burgundy) in a geometric design. And if you happen to see owls in my design, well...

Also, some of my designs are being shown on Rachael Taylor's blog today where she is featuring surface pattern designs from graduates of her fantastic online classes.
