Here is a painting midway in its progression. I add a new layer to the painting based on instructions received in my painting class each week. This week the instruction was to add blended objects.
This week the instruction was to add "calligraphy marks" with an unfamiliar utensil...in this case lines from a squeeze bottle.
This week the instruction was to selectively cover/uncover using opacity.
This week the instruction was to develop an "expressive" layer using watered down house paints and a large paint brush (2 inch).

Also, some of my designs are being shown on Rachael Taylor's blog today where she is featuring surface pattern designs from graduates of her fantastic online classes.

Acrylic painting in layers. First layer is free-form addition/subtraction using mostly black and white house paint. Second layer overlays opaque shapes.
