While my brother was here visiting, I had a serious lapse in sewing and blogging. Before his visit, I had worked out a right facing version of the seahorse that included some redesign. I figured out ways to make the sewing easier and gave it a curvier tail. However, in the redesign, I now have a head that requires partial seams. So one more redesign is in order before I try to make up a tutorial.
Here, the new right facing seahorses are meeting the left facing ones for the first time. And yes, I will be revising the tails of the earlier seahorses so they can keep up with seahorse fashion trends. The new seahorses match this month's color at the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge.
Meanwhile, Molly and Buddy claim they were also neglected, probably because their brains got clogged with playtime and treats.
Molly missed her sewing room antics and has been making up for lost time. Here, she is taking a snooze on the ironing board which is strictly off limits. I also warned her away from trying to chew on the thread as it moves from cone stand to sewing machine. Molly was so affronted that she grabbed the thread in her mouth and ran down the hallway letting the spool unwind behind her.
Here, Molly is trying to lick the neglect off of Buddy but she soon found herself using bites.
I never realized I had a secret yearning for sea horses until you started making them...
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing your seahorses, and I assumed they were paper-pieced until today! Did you design these yourself? They are pretty in this month's colors!
ReplyDeleteKissing seahorses! Love this setting and the curly tail Molly and Buddy look like little angels, surely they can't be causing trouble.
ReplyDeleteYou have some stunning TEAL scraps represented in those Seahorse blocks!!
ReplyDeleteYour teal batiks make such gorgeous seahorses! Makes me want to run out and do some teal stash enhancement. I'm glad Molly and Buddy are recovering from their sewing neglect.
ReplyDeleteI really love the colours of your seahorses. They are just like the ocean here where I live.
ReplyDeleteLove your seahorses, teal is the perfect shade for them!
ReplyDeleteThese are such pretty blocks!
ReplyDeleteRight or left, they are just all elegant.
ReplyDeleteThese are just too cute and even though this is a teal/aqua month, I think my favorite out of this bunch is the olive green guy. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I can’t believe I missed your post until now. I love the pointy seahorse tails, which (as everyone knows) is de rigueur for seahorses. Molly must have been taking thread stealing lessons from Alfie. I finally had to put away my embroidery balls; in ten minutes he`d have the thread totally unwound and all over my studio, up the stairs, around the kitchen table legs, under the china cabinet, into the living room, etc etc. And then he`d look at me like “What’d I do?"
ReplyDeleteCatching up. I've just realized that Buddy's markings on his face put me in mind of a cougar. My, but his eyes are blue! And Molly's markings are so pretty (don't want her to feel slighted!).
ReplyDeleteI love your seahorses. I will have to come back if you make a pattern or something. They are very cute!
