Bow Tie Quilt Fails Inspection

Yay! The Bow Tie quilt is bound and finished.

Uh oh!

I think its too late for an inspection.

The inspector disagrees.

And Molly wins. The score is Molly 1.

Quilt 0. Well, you do get to see the front, back and binding. Plus you can see some of the Dear Jane debris as well.

Dear Jane F9, Bow Ties and Naughty

Here is Dear Jane block F9 or Autumn Aster.

And here is the baby bow tie quilt layered and machine quilted. I just simply outlined the bow tie blocks in the ditch and then went along the diagonal.

Some of you have suggested that Molly hasn't been keeping up with her supervisory role. Well, let me tell you that she went beyond supervisor and straight to NAUGHTY. In fact, if you have kittens or impressionable young cats, do not let them see the next photos.

This is not helpful either. And just to make my point, Molly is now making yowling noises as she carries the possum toy from room to room. Yes, Buddy's dog toy. Poor Buddy does not know what to make of this.

Baby bow tie quilt top

I managed to finish making enough bow tie blocks and then laid them out. And more miraculously, I got them all sewn together to make a baby quilt top....measuring 36 inches square. And more to the point, I was able to sew them together before various supervisors could intervene.

Bits and pieces

Here is Dear Jane block G9 or Mary's Journey.

And here's a seahorse that didn't make it to the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge. Yesterday I made six right facing seahorses to match five of the orange seahorses I made earlier in the year. This fellow adds a yellow seahorse to the left facing group.

Here are the two yellow seahorses meeting each other for the first time.

And along the way I made some more bow ties.

Luckily I looked up and saw Molly in her hiding pose. Always good for a laugh.

Sunset Seahorses

Here are my sunrise seahorses or rather sunset, given the time of day. In any case, they are joining the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge and hope everyone's rainbow quilts are coming along swimmingly.

Dear Jane E9, new Kaffe, and Molly

Here is Dear Jane block E9 or Quilt Jail.

And, of course, given that the Dear Jane quilt is never ending...I found it necessary to obtain some of the new Kaffe offerings for Fall 2016. This will be very important later on when quilt historians find the box containing the blocks and wonder when anonymous attempted the Dear Jane replication.

And for those of you who have said nice things about the bow tie quilt, Molly thinks that you should have your eyes examined. She gave a long stern lecture about its failings, but Buddy and I were too busy rolling our eyes to really listen.

Dear Jane D8 and E7, Bow Ties and Molly

Yes, it's time to get back to sewing and Dear Jane. So here is Dear Jane block D8 or Dee Dee's Delight.

And while we're on a roll, here's Dear Jane block E7 or Bread Basket.

And yes, more bow tie blocks. I'm getting enough now to play around a bit with the layout. I'm aiming for ten by ten blocks, or roughly 40 by 40 inches.

And Molly agreed to have her photo taken because she realized that you might be dreadfully bored by now. As you can see, she's still just as adorable. She does seem to want a bit more lap time than usual.
