First, let's catch up with Dear Jane. Here is block G13 or Molly's Muffins. I used the color layout that Fabadashery used which avoids a big blob (or muffin) in the middle.
To make my version however, I made two blocks. The circle like figure is cut out of the block on top, and then using Dale Fleming's simple circle technique, I sew the bottom block underneath the top block so the bottom block is inlaid under the circular opening.
And this is Dear Jane Block G11 or Decisions Decisions. This is simply a nine patch with diamonds appliqued on top. I use pins instead of glue for the applique and often find my diamond points drift.
Meanwhile, I didn't want to reintroduce Molly (Hurricane) and Buddy (Typhoon) too soon, but they decided that playing pawsies under the door was lame. Here, Warden Molly is explaining the rules of the Kitty Korrectional Facility to Typhoon. Typhoon is very shy and hides and sleeps under the bed during the day. So today, Molly left me alone in the sewing room while she slept on top of the bed Typhoon was under.
Molly takes all of her roles seriously. Because she had left me alone so much of today, she had a spirited burst in the sewing room where she climbed the design wall to scatter blocks and used her teeth to pull at one block I had pinned. Then she almost toppled the ironing board, and knocked offending items off the cutting table. But much of her time is spent making up lost time with Typhoon and showing him around the place at a gallop.
Typhoon developed a complete nocturnal schedule while at the shelter, so he sleeps all day and then purrs and rubs against my head all night. While he actually looks like a convict in this photo, he's really just trying to figure out the camera with the flashing light. Although he is still very skittish, he seems especially happy to be reunited with his bossy sister.

Spiderweb Layout
Here's my progress so far on the spider web quilt. It's roughly 56 by 46. It's a lot of fun to construct so I will definitely make it bigger. How big I don't know yet. In any case, its time to cut more blue wedges and telephone book page triangles. To enjoy other scrap quilts, make sure to check out February's Scraptastic Tuesday.
And given Molly's fascination with the ironing board, I thought I should get an iron that is a bit more kitten friendly. I think she might also be interested in the ironing board because its the tallest location and its in the middle of the room. So it might help to have a tall cat roosting spot available in the sewing room. I welcome any suggestions you might use to safeguard your cat from your iron.
Meanwhile, Molly has also developed a fascination with the design wall and gave a pretty stern review of the spiderweb. I don't know whether she doesn't like the choice of quilt block or just thought I should rethink the block placement. And mind you, she is maintaining her sewing room duties along with her new duties as Warden Molly which includes playing pawsies with Typhoon under the door.

Kitten Korrection
Molly would like to announce her new venture: The Kitten Korrectional Facility (KKF). And her first client is her brother Typhoon (also known as Buddy). Molly wants to point out that cuteness and corruption often go hand and hand, and she is quite chagrined that her brother chose a life of crime. And didn't we all suspect that Roy would be the first inmate?
Typhoon did not adjust well at the shelter and spent most of his time in hiding. I went to visit him with toys and baby food and never even caught a glimpse of him because his hiding place was deep inside the enclosure and he wasn't willing to budge for anyone. I would have had to crawl inside the cage to see him. Unfortunately, an unsupervised child did crawl in and was bitten.
Here is a photo of Molly because she doesn't think that the criminals should get all the attention.
Typhoon was officially released from his ten day bite hold today. (And yes, he had had his rabies vaccine but rabies is always fatal and no vaccine is 100 percent.) He has returned to what he considers Team Storm headquarters. Molly refers to it as Storm Remnant Place. She continues to prefer the sewing room.

Brown Striped Fish
Here's a brown striped striped fish. I probably should have paid more attention to the directions of the striped batik fabric. But here at the beginning of the year, I am not quite as familiar with the pattern as I will be towards the end of the year. To see what others are concocting from their brown scraps, visit the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge.
This was my view from the sewing room this morning. Quite a fitting backdrop for assembling today's striped fish.

More plaid bunnies and more
The march of the plaid bunnies continues. And no, I did not fussy cut the dotted plaid...I'm just now seeing how the dots are laid out on the green bunny. The two bunnies on each end sport the generous gift of plaids from a quilt guild chapter member.
Not wanting to neglect Dear Jane, here is block I2 or Kaye's Courtyard from Fabadashery's draw 15. And yes, that's simply a nine patch set on the diagonal.
And here is Dear Jane block F7 or Star Struck. Fabadashery's Star Struck block enjoyed an outdoor outing to the Cornish coast, so I decided that mine could enjoy the last bit of snow remaining in my backyard.
And here is Molly demonstrating how a perfect cat can enhance quilt scraps.

More plaid bunnies
Six more plaid bunnies marched into the sewing room today. A wonderful and generous member of my quilt guild chapter gave me some blue plaids with pink and red accents. So thanks to her we have the bunny in the upper left corner and the one in the middle of the lower row. I suspect that we will see more of her generosity in future bunnies. And as luck would have it, the fabric went perfectly with one of the shirts that I showed yesterday and I used that as the background fabric. Molly says I should also mention that nine plaid shirts showed up in her sewing room and that she's concerned that we are running out of floor.

Bunny parts and Molly
My only quilting related activity today was buying a few more plaid shirts. I am still trying to build up my selection of light plaids, but I can never seem to resist the dark side.
Today was a big day for Molly because there were three big fat squirrels having a party on the back deck this morning. This was a first for Molly and she was beyond excited. Molly is a small cat, and these squirrels were exceedingly large, so the squirrels did not fully appreciate the menace that was merely a pane of glass away.
And this is Molly sleeping in her liquid phase. In the picture, she is yawning and not about to take a bite out of my foot.
And then there is Molly's favorite spot, although not necessarily for sleeping. Every morning she gallops to the sewing room for a romp in the strips. She follows me whenever I leave the sewing room, but will gallop back to this pile in the hopes of enticing me back for another playtime.
