Green Speedy Chickens

Uh oh! It looks like these speedy chickens are heading for a collision. Unless you have a rubber (chicken) neck, I would advise you go see what others are up to at the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge celebration of green.

Whew! Chicken crash averted and everyone is staying in their own lane.

Here is a large jar of pickle wedges.

And a couple of vintage butterflies.

Here is My Little Pony (AKA Buddy) (AKA Hoss) strolling through the patchwork debris at the base of the design wall. I think it is fitting that he is wearing his saddle.

In the lower left hand corner is Buddy's possum toy. When no one is looking, possum moves around the house. This morning, possum was in the bedroom. Around noon, I noticed him in the office. This evening, possum has joined us in the sewing room.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking of having another giveaway. Instead of having to choose between Buddy or Molly's choice of fabric, the winner gets Buddy and Molly in a box.

 Oh, and I made another four spiderweb blocks.

When you work on too many projects at once, you should expect mutations.

Yes, I am suffering from a lack of focus. So, for your viewing pleasure, here are two pickle wedges.

Meanwhile, Molly and I have renamed Buddy and now call him Hoss. For his affectionate name, I call him "My Little Pony." I'm a bit concerned that he is trying to outgrow his cat, I mean dog, I mean horse carrier. 

Last, and most important of all, Molly has an important life hack to share.  She recommends stretching before exercise, such as a quick run up the design wall. If you stretch against the design wall, you can clear off most of the patchwork, and then go take a nap instead.

Green gems

Time for green! To ease back into the RSC, I started with the hidden gems block...in this case, green gems. For more green goodness, make sure to visit SoScrappy's Rainbow Scrappy Challenge link up.

I wanted to show the complete set of hidden gems up on the design wall, but was prevented by a wave-like motion. I looked down and found Molly had hooked her claws into the flannel and was shaking the blocks off. So now for your viewing pleasure, both the shaker and the shaken laying on the floor where everything belongs.

The night before last our area had a little over 3.5 inches of rain. A nearby river was quite swollen...but only enough to reach the road but not run over it.

Pretending to Return to Normal

Molly is very confused. First, she is sorry for anyone who missed seeing new photos of her because staff was too lazy and useless to post. But she is REALLY confused about how she could have a fabric giveaway...and then have a package of fabric delivered here. And at this point, I must post a warning that the next photo will show irresistible fabric. You have been warned.

Just looking at it makes me want to buy more...maybe with the pink background.

And who can resist the new colorways of fans.

Then Molly was chagrined to learn that the box she sleeps on top of in the afternoon opens up and has more fabric inside. I explained that these were primarily quilts that my grandmother made. This just begs the question of why I am making quilts when I already have the ones from my grandmother.

Meanwhile I realize I need to get more quilting done on the Plaid Bunny quilt. I stopped last summer because it was too hot to quilt under the wool batting.  Time flies.

And here are Molly and Buddy inspecting the quilt. In Virginia, Molly and Buddy have learned to micromanage the quilting process--especially resetting the sewing machine thread and verbalizing their frustration with staff. However, because they are avid readers of Cat Patches, they know that Oregon cats specialize in inspection duties and they want to prepare for their move (that they don't know about yet.)

Now Molly is quite tired. She rolled around on almost every fabric as I tried to cut the fat quarters. Here she is snoozing on top of bits prepared for making more vintage butterfly blocks.

Here are all of the vintage butterfly blocks that I have made so far. When I laid them out of the design wall, I put them too close together. This shows how important the sashing is for this quilt.
