Green sheep

Oh dear. This sheep seems to have gone on a green drink detox. All so she can join the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge during the May celebration of green.

I provided a tutorial for a right-sided sheep here. And I plan to give instructions for the left-sided sheep tomorrow.

Squirrel Packing Nuts

I have made very little progress on my green sheep, so I will have to show a squirrel instead. I just can't keep up with Gayle at Mangofeet. And speaking of squirrel! That squirrel shoulder looks too blocky.

That's better. That should make it easier for the squirrel to escape any menacing cats by climbing up a tree.

Part of my excuse for less patchwork productivity is that I am packing for my move to Portland. And that sentence sure has its share of Ps. Since I document quilting with photography, I thought I might as well use my camera to keep track of inventory. The label to the side of the picture gets moved to the top of the box, and taped down as I seal the box. Then I can use the photo to know what's inside.

And of course I am supervised at all times.

And here are some butterflies flying free until I get them sewn in to a vintage butterfly block.

Spiderweb blocks

Drumroll please. All 72 blocks are completed. I really have 73, so one block will be odd block out. For the next step, I will be measuring and trimming. Some of the blocks are curvaceous. But I'm trying to make a quilt that is flat.

Buddy has stopped running away when he sees the camera...and is now willing to pay the price for being adorable.

Everything but patchwork

Molly says "Just say nope to taupe."

However, Buddy says "Taupe is dope."

Squirrel has been reading Gayle's blog Mangofeet and squirrel agrees with Gayle that squirrels are fascinating and should distract everyone...especially if you wanted to throw some nuts or seeds his way.

And here are the peonies putting on a show in the side yard.

And here's another close up of a mountain laurel that shows how the flower buds grow and then explode like tiny fireworks.

A look back

I got very little sewing accomplished today, so Molly said she would help me with this blog post. She thought you might like to see how I lay out the vintage butterfly block parts before I assemble them. But she thought you would rather see where she likes to sleep.

Molly thought you might also like to see what she was doing a year ago. I think Molly is trying to teach Buddy how to be a cat but has concluded that one really can't fight mother nature. (And yes, they are in front of the design wall where Molly has knocked down all the patchwork.)

Molly also thought you might like to see what was up on my design wall a year ago. Now you can understand why she is so determined to keep the design wall clear of clutter.

Four more

I made four more vintage butterfly blocks.

And four more pickle wedges. I counted all the wedges I have made so far and discovered that I have a finite number left to make. However, I'm glad it has taken this long because it means I was able to use Kaffe Fassett's new black fan fabric.

And four more spiderweb blocks. Each of these blocks are made from sewing four triangles together. For this quilt, I have finished all of the foundation-pieced triangles. I then laid them all out to get pleasing groupings.

This means that I was able to get a lot more sewn together. I would have sewn more except Buddy weighed in and rearranged some of the groupings. And I don't think the word groupings applies anymore.

Molly thinks it is silly to leave patchwork on the floor where it can be trampled by ponies.

Grumpy cats

Here are two vintage butterfly blocks, my proof of at least some time at the sewing machine.

Meanwhile, Molly wants to host a staff giveaway where she gives away staff that buy too much fabric in favor of getting new staff that prefer cat toys to fabric. Buddy agreed with Molly until he realized that Molly's definition of staff was Buddy's definition of pillow.

This shows off more of the fabric. Truly awesome.

Meanwhile, Buddy is still upset from a trolling comment we got a few days back that referred to the turboroller as a "toy." Buddy (then known as Typhoon) qualified for world championship status in turboroller before he was six months. Of course, spending most of his youth hiding in a box took its toll on his career.

Instead he became a Professor of Turboroller at Kitten U (now shuttered but known for its motto: Making Cats of Tomorrow Great Again). And yes, this was all before we discovered he was actually a dog, and now a pony called Hoss.
