Scrappy Stars Return

I made some progress on the scrappy strip stars. But first I began with some reverse sewing. The red fabric I chose originally looked too much like rest. This red is a bit on the orange side, but much perkier.

This is the original block. And to enjoy other scrappy wonders, please enjoy the view over at Scraptastic Tuesday.

Molly would like to announce that the sewing machine has returned. But I should also clarify that I have my original Bernina 930 and the feet are interchangeable with the one that went to the shop for rehab. I usually have one set up for piecing and one for machine quilting.

My bigger problem is getting time at the cutting table without quilting assistants. Now when I try to cut fabric, Buddy jumps up on the table. He then gets up on his hind legs and puts his front paws on my shoulders...a signal that he wants me to hold him. I can sometimes cut fabric around Molly's burrowing activity and her switching tail...but holding Buddy AND cutting isn't really possible. In any case, Buddy is living up to his name.

I like the red in the first photo, lovely and vibrant. It's a nightmare when our four legged friends decide they want to make us of the cutting table the same time that we do! I think I am quite paranoid about the rotary cutters and cats!!

Maybe a Buddy sling is what you need to keep him cuddled but out of danger! Great scrappy stars and good luck with getting more done. Thanks for linking up to #scraptastictuesday.

Between you and Cathy, I'm going to have to make a scrappy stars quilt, aren't I? The pair of you have firmly planted the hook, and I'm about to be reeled in any minute.
And yeah, I'm sure Buddy would be THRILLED with a sling carrier. No way that could possibly go wrong...

And here I was thinking cats just slept all day! Clearly your feline friends are bursting with energy to help you at every step! Glad your machine is back. You might need to invest in a Go Cutter, if Buddy is going to be so attention seeking.

"looked too much like rest"? So that's what rest looks like! And I like rest! But I LOVE your stars and your method of making those eight pointed wonders is ingenious.

And I have lots of free range Buddies who put their head under my hand and rub it around while I am trying to weed. And that's my excuse for not getting much weeding done.

What a lovely scrap quilt. I've been mulling an eight pointed star lately, too. A wonderful setting, too.

Your scrappy stars look wonderful! The blocks look quite big, I'm wondering what size they end up?

Your scrappy stars are pretty cool! I don't know how you manage with two cats! Rocky always wants to be wherever I am in the studio. If I'm cutting then he's right there trying to take the rotary cutter away; I'm always holding my breath trying to make sure he doesn't touch the blade. Even closed it could hurt him. And when I'm ironing, he wants to lay right in the middle of the ironing board - he gives me this look like, "okay, you can go ahead and iron now that I'm comfortable and can keep a close eye on your progress." Or if he's in a playful mood, then he keeps snatching the fabric I'm pressing and running off with it!

I love those scrappy stars! That should be a really fun quilt. I missed seeing Molly and hearing about your furkids' antics. Vacation over; let the sewing commence!
