Beginnings of Partially Tormented

Last week I was visiting participants of Oh Scrap! and followed Gayle's (Mangofeet) link to her new inspiration of Garden Mosaic or Totally Demented. I too was inspired but I have used up my life time limit of HSTs (half square triangles) and am not allowed to make any more. Then I realized that the blocks could be made with mountain shapes or squares with bat wings.  I explain this in more detail here.

The four patches are 3 inches finished and are combined into 16 patch units that are 6 inches square.

In any case, I am calling my version Partially Tormented because this is much easier to make than I first thought. Also, I'm taking a column and row out of each of the sixteen sections so I will have a quilt that is roughly 84 inches square instead of 96 inches square.

Love this. Squares with Bat Wings? do tell! I don't know what these are but they sound delightful! lol.

Wowie! That is a lot of pieces. It will be fun to see this one progress. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!

That was fast! I'm still kind of confused about the way you are making it. Obviously you know what you are doing and have a faster and easier (and simpler to some) way to get to the end result. When you take out rows will there still be secondary patterns? I guess I'm doing the totally demented version and making all 2048 individual hsts first so you won't see anything like a block from me for quite some time. And I'm still amazed at what can show up in a little bitty square/hst.What fun.

You're being way more organized than I am, and I suspect you'll finish your quilt lightyears ahead of mine. (I'm definitely being demented for the long haul...) I'm definitely going to give your way a try, and see if it can be incorporated into the way I've started. (Crossing fingers!)
