I was so busy congratulating myself on piecing a flawless squirrel that I missed seeing that this squirrel is suffering from square jaw.
He is already getting taunted by his peers. So while green squirrel goes back under the knife, I mean, seam ripper, I suggest you visit the green piece supporters over at the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge.
Meanwhile, I have changed my mind about what to use for the backing of the owl quilt. I think the backing on the right captures more of the craziness of the quilt top.

I am so sorry for the surgical procedure necessary on your squirrel, nevertheless, I forecast a complete recovery!!
I love your squirrels! I'm still planning to make a vulture quilt
Good call on the backing!
Poor Mr Green - he looks like a stubborn little fellow...
Every Sunday, my son and his wife come for lunch and then we play cards in front of a huge window overlooking a family of squirrels. Your blocks are so sweet and happy.
SEW easy to miss a little bit of the pattern, isn't it?!
I’m glad that Mr Green Squirrel (AKA Dudley DoRight) is getting his jaw fixed. Don’t want to inhibit his ability to chomp on nuts! And speaking of nuts, the new backing for the owls is perfect.
Those squirrel are nutty cute.
Mr. Green has healed very nicely. Those insane owls should keep the owner awake all night, terrific.

I'm sure that there are squirrels with square jaws. You could call him Jay Leno. Love the owls. So wise.
Square jaw...better than lock jaw, I guess. I love your new owl backing. I agree...a better choice, although I liked the first one too.
The Dudley Do-Right squirrel!
And the Owls on the right definitely seems to be the right choice. It's nice to have choices.
Poor little squirrel, he does look rather odd, hope the surgery went well! Did Molly help with this procedure?
Ha!! He kind of resembles a t-rex dinosaur! What a fun little army of squirrels you are making!
