Kitten Kontroversies

Molly was rolling her eyes at the audacity of Sadie at Three Cat Ranch to pretend to be kittenish, challenging Molly as the oldest kitten. I noted that the blog post was full of unicorns, so it was clearly all fantasy. Besides, who starts and finishes a quilt that fast?

In any case, Molly wanted me to show you her babies. She distributes them from room to room in the middle of the night while making weird mewing sounds. Oh, and that lump in the front is just her brother photobombing the picture of Molly's babies. And yes, the baby in the middle used to resemble a bundle of roving, but apparently one night it was naughty and needed some stern discipline. I did remind Molly that we live in Portland now where neither stern nor discipline are in fashion.

So if Sadie is as sweet a kitten as she pretends to be, I assume we will soon see pictures of Sadie cuddling with her brother Smitty...and one's that don't require the use of twine, rubberbands and clamps.

What a fun post! I wonder if Sadie and Smitty will return in kind? Molly is a beauty! I might have to show this post to Wilbur.

Sadie read your post and simply sniffed. She’s used to those sorts of insults, being so beautiful, you know. She was curious about Molly’s toys though. She thought the one on the right might be a unicorn, but I told her I though it was a penguin. And then she wanted to know when you’re going to make a penguin quilt. She has some toys too...mostly balls of fluff. Each night the toys are all returned to the toy box, but in the morning, we find them strewn all over. Toys, apparently, do not like being kenneled any more than kitties.

I had a male cat that used to do the same thing. He had a collection of "stuffed babies" that he would carry around and meow at and sometimes even groom. I often wondered if he was lonely. This particular cat was found on the street by a "rescue agency" and then put up for adoption by our local SPCA. It is lovely to watch how each and every creature on this earth has a caring heart.

That’s sure a cute collection of babies that Molly has! Are they her toys or your models for future block designs? Alfie and Darla don’t have any toys that they “parent”. They do, however, like to shuffle their toys around every night and find the most dangerous spots for them - on the stairs, at the foot of the bed, etc.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful babies, Molly! And so good to see you cuddling your brother as well, can't be easy with that huge pony!
