Free Table Scraps Giveaway

If you are always hungry like Buddy the Cat-Dog, you would think I am giving away food scraps from the table. But if you have quilterly interests, you may remember the free table at quilt guild meetings and how much fun it was to rummage through the piles and finding a fabric treasure.

So back at the beginning of the pandemic we started "free table" giveaways, where you could leave a comment stating what fabric you would be looking for at the free table. Random drawings picked winners and we sent the winners packages of fabric. For example, some choices were roses, solids, novelty, and 30s. Some people ask for smaller pieces with larger variety while others like larger hunks.

I realize I prematurely abandoned the giveaways, and heck, I'll admit to almost abandoning the blog. So let's bring back the "free table" scrap giveaway.

Leave a comment on this blog post telling me what fabrics/scraps you would want to receive, Molly will pick 2 random winners, and Buddy will pack a USPS priority mailer with your winnings. NO REPLY bloggers will not be included in the drawing unless they include a way for me to contact them by email. Unfortunately, the giveaway is also limited to the U.S. because international mailing costs are beyond costly. We'll collect comments to include in the drawing until Sunday e

Molly just walked across the keyboard then flopped on it...changing the font size and adding a page or two of the image you can see behind her head in the photo below (maybe from my clipboard?).

Resuming...We'll collect comments to include in the drawing until Sunday evening January 24, 11:59PM and announce the two winners on this blog on Monday morning (January 25).

Molly, always giving things the princess touch ;-) I would love yellow and/or yellow scraps from the scrap table....and if Buddy would make sure to include some handsome dog/pony hairs for the 100 year old cat (okay, he's 20 in real years) to investigate, even better!

Had a cat on the keyboard earlier today looking for warmth, but he gave up and crawled into a bunch of blankets. The old computer monitors used to throw off heat and were able to be crawled on top of. Any White on white or batiks would be greatly useful for scrap quilts. Thanks. Our free table has not reappeared at guild meetings nor have a lot of people.

I love digging through scraps to find the perfect piece. I could use yellow low volume prints or browns. I seem to use a lot of these lately .

Sally, thanks so much for your free table giveaways! I could use reds and pinks if you wanted to send some my way. Don't tell Molly or Buddy, but they are really very entertaining!

Love the top picture of fabric goodies and anything chocolate brown with a design on it. Love the flowers, shells, dots, squares, zigzags. Such a wonderful pile to dive into. Molly just wanted something new on your computer screen - pretty blue design and scrappy quilt behind it. 24Tangent@gmail.com

I'm looking for eye-popping colors to add interest to low volume backgrounds. Thanks for the chance! Sorry I jumped the gun earlier. Fun to meet another Sally.

Ah, if only our kitties were actually as helpful as they think they are...
I should probably be looking for florals. I'm always puzzled by my lack of flowery fabrics - I love flowers and I love fabrics. Oddly enough, the two concepts never seem to link up.

Oh, I'm so happy you haven't abandoned your blog! We'd miss out on all the cat-shenanigans!
My happy stash would like to mingle with your happy stash and request any brighter colors in either prints or solids. The dark colors usually sink to the bottom, so I'm up for bright fabric scraps of any size!

Whoops, I meant to type yellow and/or orange scraps….I think Molly distracted me ;-)

Everyone wants brights, yellows and florals, but if Molly happens to sit on a piece or two of fabric with puffins or penguins I'd love to include them in my next black and white quilt.

Really enjoy your blog and especially Buddy's antics. If you can part with some low volume or solid colors that would be great. Thank you for continuing to blog! My email is rickhayden@comcast.net

welcome.

Life with cats is never dull. So glad you have not abandoned your blog. I would be happy with whatever Molly picks. My favorites at the moment are red, gold, aqua - prints or solids. Thank you for the opportunity to enter the giveaway. (shirparks@gmail.com)

I love bright colors but any scrap will do!! I just started making crumble blocks with some of my scraps but realize I have a lot of what everyone else likes (that I made gifts for).
Happy 2022...the better year.
xx, Carol

I am always inspired by your blog, especially your creative animal blocks. Your recent posting of micro-seahorses was fabulous! I am a scrap lover and particularly like bright greens, blues, oranges, and yellows. I also enjoy whimsical, small scale novelty prints to mix into a quilt as a little surprise. You are so kind to share, thanks for the chance to win!

Yellow and orange are colors I don't have much of in my stash so those would be great. . .I'm down to the dredges in my blue and red bins so those would be great . . .so, heck. . .If Molly picks me, she pick what color she wants to send me!

Wait. Molly is picking and Buddy is packing? I thought they were your furry overlords - I mean your employers (you slave, you!) I’d love to win some scraps and I’d love to say “send me all the beautiful scraps”. *snort*. But we both know I love all the scraps and will take any.

Sally, are batiks a scrap category? If not, I'm a saturated color kind of gal and love that you are able to share your scraps! Thanks for the opportunity.

I love bright colors especially hot pink and fuschia, but mostly brights. Thank you so much!! I have a car that likes my printer. If I go to print something, she comes from anywhere in the house, running, to help supervise the printer. Sometimes she will collate for me and even hold punch the papers, whether I need it or not. 🙄

I have so many favs, love fabric!! I will go with reds, blues ( darker shades), and neutrals. Thank you! This is always so fun! So generous of you!

MissPat said...

Wow, what a response this time. Must be lots of deprived scrap quilters who haven't gotten their regular rations. I'd love some brights, especially multi-colored ones with a handful of low volume scraps with a tad of color. And please don't give up the blog. Blogland would be a duller place without you (and Molly and Buddy, of course).

This give-away is such a fun thing to do! I would love some dog prints, if perchance they have been allowed to cross your threshold, and/or some poison greens. Thanks!

Would love some 30's prints to add to my hexie quilt. Thanks for sharing! btw, I am making bunnies from your tutorial for the rainbow scrap challenge--love them!

What a thoughtful thing for you to do ! I would love small pieces for a "crumb' quilt I am wanting to get started.

Jenz said...

How very generous! I would love just about any prints!

Thank goodness you didn't abandon your blog! I love reading your posts and looking at your photos, including Molly and Buddy. And there you go being generous again. Thank you for the offer. Maybe I'll wait till next time (if there is a next time) to add my name.

I was a lucky recipient of one of the previous giveaways and it was so much fun opening the mail that day! So, if I were to be so lucky again, I am working on Bonnie Hunter's Bitcoin quilt and I need things I can make into 1.5" strips........anything goes! The more unique and interesting, the better! Esme, Cici, and Willow (2 cats and 1 dog) will keep their paws crossed for winning again.

I can always count on Molly and Buddy to lift my spirits. I miss them when you don't post (of course, I miss seeing what you're working on). I am a very dull person, unfortunately, my fabric choices reflect my personality. If you have any bright, happy prints I would welcome them. I enjoyed seeing the sea horse blocks you're making with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I haven't joined this year because I can't decide on a project I want to stick with for the entire year.
